"Brela" climbing area: discover a climber's paradise!

Are you looking for an active holiday and a challenge? The "Brela" sport climbing area offers the perfect combination of adrenaline, beautiful surroundings, and peace, far away from the crowds.

Where is it located and how to get there?

Our climbing area is located at the foot of Biokovo Mountain, as the crow flies - above the "Šampion" tavern. You will easily recognize it by the checkerboard painted on the rock.

You can reach the climbing area on foot or by car, following the signs from two key points: Gornji Kričak and DVD Brela (Brela Volunteer Fire Department).

Detailed Instructions (from DVD Brela):

Start on the asphalt road from DVD Brela towards the Church of St. George (crkva svetog Jurja).

Do not turn towards the church, but continue uphill on the gravel road (macadam).

After a short, but steeper ascent (approx. 100 meters), turn left (you will see a signpost).

Continue along the straight and wide fire road. You will walk about 1 km through beautiful olive groves.

You have arrived at the starting point for the climbing area!

Characteristics of the Rock:

Precision and endurance: this sport climbing area offers a relatively high rock face with diverse routes:

Difficulty: a full range of routes, predominantly medium difficulties, but also many easier ones for beginners.

Style: the main feature is slabs that demand high precision and endurance.

Secret: this is an ideal spot if you are looking for peace and quiet – there is a high probability that you will be alone!

Interesting fact: the potential of this location was discovered by the Austrian climber Christian Hacker who, with his friends, equipped almost all the routes.

Important information

Renovation: the climbing area was completely renovated and equipped in 2019 by the Municipality of Brela, the Brela Tourist Board, and the Biokovo Nature Park Public Institution.

Equipment: mandatory to bring adequate and safe climbing equipment.
