Shrine of Vepric: Spiritual Serenity at the Entrance to Makarska
Welcome to the Shrine of Vepric, a beautiful sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, nestled right at the entrance to Makarska. It was founded in 1908 by Bishop Dr. Juraj Carić (1867 – 1921), who is also laid to rest here.
What makes Vepric truly special is its natural ambiance, which vividly resembles the world-renowned Lourdes shrine. A natural cave, surrounded by green hills, lush vegetation, and a murmuring stream, creates an atmosphere of peace and spiritual tranquility, ideal for prayer and contemplation.
The Shrine of Vepric is a beloved destination for both pilgrims and visitors throughout the year. It's especially frequented during the main pilgrimage days, when a large number of people gather for communal prayer and celebration:
- February 11th
- March 25th
- August 15th (Feast of the Assumption)
- September 7th
- September 8th (Feast of the Nativity of Mary)
