Fishing

In order to be fishing recreationally or as a sport, in the fishing waters of the Republic of Croatia you will need a license, regardless if you are fishing from the shore or from a ship. Recreational and sport fishing at the sea is permitted in the entire fishing sea of Croatia; it is forbidden around the mariculture facilities, in harbours and ports, and on beaches and bathing sites from 1 May to 1 October. When purchasing a license by e-mail (web shop) the client selects the fishing subzones depending on the fishing sea area of Croatia in which he intends to fish. The selection of the fishing subzone serves exclusively for statistical purposes; the purchased license applies to the entire fishing sea of the Republic of Croatia.

Recreational fishing licenses

All types of recreational fishing licenses at sea are issued and purchased in an electronic form. Beside the purchase of daily electronic licenses and those valid for several days for recreational fishing at sea, it is also possible to buy an annual license.

When purchasing a recreational fishing license electronically, the license is confirmed by a serial number awarded by the system after the purchase has been made. Upon the purchase, a confirmation is delivered to your e-mail address that the purchase has been made; it contains the license serial number.

Sport Fishing Licenses

Annual licenses for sport fishing at sea are valid only with a HSSRM (Croatian Federation of Sport Fishing at Sea) membership card.

Daily licenses for sport fishing and those valid for several days are intended primarily for foreign citizens. If a person possesses a membership card of its grassroots sport fishing association, he/she is not obliged to purchase a HSSRM membership card.

If you do not have a membership card of your association, you are obliged to purchase a HSSRM card.

Sport fishing licenses are sold through HSSRM member associations throughout Croatia.
