Fishing in Brela and Croatia
Planning to fish during your stay in Brela? It's important to know that a permit is required for recreational and sport fishing in the Republic of Croatia, whether you're fishing from the shore or a boat.
Where is fishing permitted?
Fishing is allowed in all Croatian fishing waters, but it's prohibited around mariculture facilities, in ports and harbors, and on beaches and bathing areas from May 1st to October 1st.
Purchasing permits
You can purchase permits electronically (web shop) on the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries: ribarstvo.mps.hr.
While you'll select a fishing subzone when purchasing online (which is purely for statistical purposes), the purchased permit is valid for all Croatian fishing waters.
Recreational Fishing
Permits for recreational fishing can be purchased directly via the following link: Purchase Recreational Fishing Permits.
Sport Fishing
Annual sport fishing permits are only valid with a membership card from the Croatian Sport Fishing Federation (HSSRM).
Daily and multi-day sport fishing permits are primarily intended for foreign nationals. If you have a membership card from your national Sport Fishing Federation, you don't need to purchase an HSSRM membership card. Otherwise, you are required to purchase an HSSRM card.
Sport fishing permits are sold through HSSRM member associations throughout Croatia. The closest place where you can purchase a permit is:
- PŠRD "Arbun"
- Šetalište svetog Petra 2
- 21300 Makarska
