The "Following the paths of ancient Berulia" educational trail (Berulia is the old name for Brela) offers a unique walk from Subotišće to the historic Church of St. Nicholas. This easy hiking trail is ideal for anyone looking to combine recreation with cultural and historical discovery.

What you will see on the trail:
Your journey begins in Subotišće, the current center of Gornja Brela. The trail leads you through a true open-air museum, visiting key sites that bear witness to centuries of life in this region:

Gornja Mala hamlet: A recently depopulated settlement featuring old stone houses, threshing floors (guvna), and wells.

Church of Our Lady of Health: A historical church dating from the transition of the 17th to the 18th century, restored in 2025.

Archaeological remains: The trail passes by the Illyrian cemetery called Gomila and the ancient settlement of Besedišće.

Natural phenomena: You will pass the ancient settlement of Klešići, the Vodice spring, and the mysterious Mrkore caves.

Dubrava dense forest: Walk through a thick pine forest with a distinctive Mediterranean scent.

Church of St. Nicholas: The final point is the centuries-old protector of Brela, a church from the 14th century (572 m/asl).
